Shame

Shame are a five-piece from South London led by vocalist Charlie Steen. They emerged with a fierce, post-punk sound on their debut Songs of Praise, a record that mixed blunt, shouty energy with sharp lyrics and built a reputation for their energetic live shows;

subsequent records Drunk Tank Pink and Food for Worms broadened their sound, adding denser textures and more melody while keeping the band’s raw energy intact.

Critics and features note how the group balance their high octane performances both live and recorded with increasingly shaped songwriting,

they continue to tour heavily while releasing new material, most recently announcing the album Cutthroat and a supporting European run.

“Shame’s live sets are charged and rambunctious; Steen sings like he's doing hard manual labor, jugular bulging and sweat dripping.”

Pitchfork.

“Daring and dogmatic, Shame are as unapologetic as the title suggests on album four.”
